heeel-ro!

hello bloggy friends!  i realize I have been on hiatus for a bit (of course I have a great excuse, several excuses actually)  but really, ive missed being able to share a bit of my day with the great wide world and have a bit of reflection time on this here blog...
I wanted to show you a close up of my FAVORITE earrings!  (they jingle when I walk)
... so ill give ya some updates... in the past week (or two) I have moved house!  (we are officially grown-ups now, no longer living in a crummy rental apartment, now we have a crummy rental house of our own....)   these photos are in our new backyard!  Im so excited to explore in our new hood and find some photo spots!
we rocked the senior pic style/over the shoulder look!
on the work front we are putting up our spring show at the ballet next week, featuring Balanchines Who Cares..... it's shaping up to be a good show, but as per usual, the costume shop is a mad house and we have a TON of work, but I am very excited about the beautiful costumes that we are making  ( i will def. post photos once the show is up!)

did you know...

Upon a Lilac Sea
To toss incessantly
His Plush Alarm
Who fleeing from the Spring
The Spring avenging fling
To Dooms of Balm-
                                -Emily Dickinson
... did you know that April is national poetry month?  I have gone through phases of loving poetry and phases of ... well, not, NOT loving poetry, but not having the patience to appreciate poetry.  But when I am in the right state of mind to open myself up to beautiful poetry it is incredibly rewarding.
I visited a family friends house today and knew that I had to have my photo taken in her beautiful garden... doesn't it look like a sea of lavender?!  It was sooo lovely and I wanted to lay down in the garden, but I was afraid of crushing all of the flowers (and it smelled so GOOD!)  I just love spring.....
outfit details: dress & skirt:Forever 21 ( I had to double up, skirt and dress for modesty sake), belt& boots: thrifted

wedding inspiration!

well, I still can't find that little thingy that connects my camera and tripod....so I am bringing you some images I have been stalking while planning for our wedding.  We are meeting at our venue in two weeks to have a tasting and make some big decisions....so that is all very exciting!
I LOVE how frothy and ethereal the back of this dress is, I never thought I'd be the kind of gal that would want a big princess gown, but it has happened, I want to be swathed in white tulle, and wouldn't this little blue shoe just be perfect?
these little birdies are adorable, we are not planning on having a big cake (we are gonna have lots of pies and small cakes), but I would love to have them decorated with little, natural birdies!
...and this image is just dreamy, right!  so romantic and sweet!
Have a great weekend!

hey mom-ma!

im sporting my sweet new mom jeans (that's all I was alluding to in the title, don't worry!) I bought these sweet Gloria Vanderbilt jeans at Costco! for like $15, and then I took them home and tapered the leg (unfortunately I accidently made the right leg MUCH tighter than the left, sorta awkward feeling (like I can't bend my right knee...))
This little meadow of flowers just appeared the other day in our backyard!  I love spring time in Kansas City!  so many flowers and buds everywhere, it is a really beautiful place.
So, today is "Fountain day" here.  Did you know that Kansas City is called the city of fountains?  yup, it has the most fountains in the nation!  so today is the day that they fill them all up and the water starts to flow.. which should be interesting, cause it is REALLY windy, so the water will end up all over the sidewalks!
I've been thinking that I should try to visit all of these fountains in town and show you all some of the beauties of KC.... we will see. It will probably have to wait till summer, cause I am swamped until about May 10th...

duh-duh-delorean!

well, I seem to have misplaced that little contraption that connects my camera to my tripod, soooo.... no outfit photos today.  (Im convinced that Simon, my cat, has stolen it because we ran out of cat food on saturday and he had to go a whole day without food, which in his food obsessed/fatty boomblatty world, is a major crisis! and total cause for taking revenge on the neglectful humans!)

anywho, I can show you this gem of a photo from this past Friday night.  I went out with some great gals to check out the art of 'first Fridays'  I think that lots of towns do this... but it is a night where all of the galleries are open and the arty kids are out, and the wine in plastic cups is free!  so, it's an all around good time.  We turned a corner and came apon this!
thats right folks its a Delorean, and it was totally done up to be the back to the future/time machine delorean.  IT WAS AWESOME!  I used to love the Back to the Future movies, Micheal J. Fox was so dreamy!  so anyway, I geeked out and had to have my photo taken with said car!  hehe. (sorry for the crappy/ tiny photo)  I am on the hunt for that little black thing that attaches my camera to my tripod...

date night!

about a month ago Ryan and I decided to have a weekly date night ( as our work schedules are completely opposite, we needed to schedule in some couple time)  thus far we have gone to dinner at various places and gone out to the movies.  But, with the warm weather we decided to take our date night outside on a little adventure!
so we went to an arcade center, Cool Crest, in neighboring, Independence, MO.  It was slightly shabby and unfortunately the go-carts weren't running, but we did do a couple rounds in the batting cages.   I look slightly ridiculous, but it was super fun.
I was pretty awful, although Ryan said I was "surprisingly not a as bad" as he'd anticipated!  He was really good...of course! (isn't he cute?)
then we went inside and used the rest of our tokens on the skee-ball game.  We got enough tickets to get some plastic rings... (and then took an awesome photo in the photo booth, I will try to scan it in later)
Then for the dining portion of date night we headed over to Big Boy, it was soso food wise, but the atmosphere was hilarious and like a weird time warp ( back to the early '90's)! We just had so much fun, acting like kids and just laughing at everything!  All in all it was a great night with my boo!  (although, my hands are really sore today, that baseball hitting was really rough!)
this was the view from inside the big boy (yup, looks like a bullet hole, did I mention how WT that part of town can be?) it was hilarious!... and a little creepy!
