wearing: 16 weeks pregnant!

I am officially unveiling the bump!!  ...tada.....
(actually these photos are from a few weeks ago... we are now almost 18 weeks along!)

I gotta admit that I have had a rough time dressing my ever changing body, many a morning has been spent staring in my closet whining to my husband and trying to stuff myself into all of my old stand-bys.....pathetic would be an accurate description of my morning travails (more like mini tantrums?)!

This combo of leggings, sensible boots and a longish top/ dress is shaping up to be my favorite look.  I've been forced to make myself more and more leggings to accommodate my new fashion preference, this pair included.

changes are a happening!

Ah another blogging absence... but this time I have a REALLY good excuse... for the past 3 months I've basically felt like poo, like I've had the tired, sick, can't get out of the house everyday grossness....any ideas what's wrong with me??  yup! that's right, I'm pregnant!

We are over the moon excited! and I am excited to share all of my fun baby projects and preparations here on the blog!  I can't promise a lot of outfit photos as I've been feeling a bit less than photo ready lately, but who knows, maybe I'll perk up and show how I am trying to retain my style and still be comfortable (although honestly some days I could live in my pajamas!)

p.s. isn't this photo adorable?  big props to our cousin Lindsey for being our favorite photographer!!! thanks!

wearing: back to work

Alas, today was my first day back at work after a nice long summer vacation (I work seasonally, so I get the summer months off).  I know that I am incredibly lucky to have such a nice long break but it is still always hard to get back into the swing of things, and wake up early, and NOT go to the pool all day.....

At the same time I weirdly get excited about going back to work, it feels like the first day back at school... seeing all of my co-workers, getting back to a regular schedule, playing with all of the costumes and of course sewing, sewing, sewing!

This morning when I took these photos before work it reminded me of how my parents used to always take me and my sisters photo on the first day of school, with our new backpacks and lunch boxes... not a lot has changed, although I no longer have a care bear lunch box, I still had that back to school(work) jittery feeling!

wearing: wedding guest best

We attended our friends wedding last weekend and had a TON of fun! Lets just say not only was there a serve yourself candy station, build your own mac and cheese for dinner, but they also had their own version of BUTTERBEER! (all you non Harry Potter fans better just read up if you want to know what I'm talking about!)

I love a wedding...all the happy people, family and friends, dancing and good food and getting all gussied up is always fun too! (especially if you get a brand new dress, like I did!)

...and look, the Mr. even agreed to be in a photo with me! how dapper he looks!!

Party Time: an ice cream and indian bridal shower

I recently helped host a bridal shower in my backyard, and all of the crafting, decorating and planning was right up my alley!  The shower had an indian theme with an ice cream sundae bar (two things the bride to be really digs!).
We made feather streamers and custom tablecloths for decorating, along with some cute head dresses to get everyone in the spirit.  (as if the Pocohontas soundtrack that played on repeat wasn't enough!) The piece de resistance may have been the homemade teepee, or maybe the ice cream..... tough decision!
And now I am going to inundate you with photos, cause I think that they basically speak for themselves and are totally adorable to boot!

What a great party!  Some laughed at us for having an outdoor ice cream sundae party in 103 degree heat (calling it a potential milkshake party!), but the ice cream stayed cool and the party was a complete success!

wearing: summer spots

I am going to just pretend like I haven't been tragically absent from the blog (don't worry, it was only due to pure laziness!) and just resume my sporadic/hopefully more regular posting!

So, not to sound like everyone else all summer, but 'DANG, it's hot out lately!' right?  just look at all of those sad dead leaves in my backyard! its only July, there should not be crunchy fall leaves that need to be raked! (or mowed into oblivion, as may be the case in our yard!)
This heat has lead to a bit of a personal fashion drought (see what I did there? haha) My standard wardrobe has been cut-off shorts and breezy tops/ tiny tank tops.... so basically this exact outfit.  It has made me yearn for fall and cooler temperatures so I can get out of this style rut!

I've been forced to get creative with ways of keeping my crazy hot hair up and breezy (seriously I feel like I am wearing a super thick wool hat on my head most of the time).  Braids have been my cure for the boredom of the daily top knot bun.  And I rather like this particular side braid/ wrap thing I concocted today.
